Does coconut oil need to be refrigerated?

May 21, 2021 by admin Leave a Comment

If you know the beauty benefits of coconut oil you definitely don’t want to miss  from your kitchen shelf or your vanity shelf. But the thing that bothers us is, like other beauty products do coconut Oil also expire…? Do we need to preserve it in hot weather…?

Moreover, if we need to preserve it, How do we preserve coconut oil in hot weather? I Research on this for many years, because I am a coconut oil fan forever and ever. When I got my perfect solutions, I decided to save your time and provide you with the real solutions of this small but general problem .

All the girls and even some guys are very particular about their skin quality. So when something is going to affect your skin quality you should definitely take good care of it. Here in this article I will share with you some best ways to preserve your coconut oil. Moreover, will answer your tricky questions: How we can freeze coconut oil…?

How to store coconut oil in hot weather?

When it comes to coconut oil preserving it doesn’t require much equipment. Keeping it fresh for longer duration is just a matter of some care and cautiousness. you need to be careful while considering the place for placing your coconut oil.

It’s not very difficult to store coconut oil without freezing it with other kitchen groceries. But if you want to keep it chilled it is not a bad option again with proper care and proper placement you can enjoy your coconut oil as fresh as ever for almost two year duration.

How to freeze coconut oil?

This is a common question asked by several coconut oil lovers: how to freeze coconut oil, How to make coconut oil solid again? Here I would like to add, that there is no particular reason to freeze your coconut oil. Until you want to use it in a solid form, or you want it to stay fresh for more than two years.

Otherwise coconut oil changes form or gets  solid even at 25 degree centigrade. That’s why in winters your coconut gets solid or you can say freeze even in your cozy room. So you don’t need to to freeze it or even refrigerate it, if you are using your coconut oil regularly.

As once refrigerated or frozen it is going to get Damn hard. So for using it regularly I will have to put some effort into melting it. And then apply it on your face, hair or eyebrows and nourish them perfectly. But personally I am a lazy kind person and I don’t like to put that much effort when it’s not actually required.

But if you have plenty of coconut oil and it is going to be accessesive for you for more than two years. Then yes! you need to freeze it because it might get spoiled and smelly.

In such conditions if you want to freeze your coconut oil the best way is to freeze it in a silicon freezer tray. As it is flexible and you can easily excavate your coconut oil cubes out of it. Set the coconut oil in all the cubes of the tray. They will take no more than half an hour and they will get rock hard.

You just get them out of the tray, put them in some airtight container that is dry and don’t have any moisture in it. You can even save them in a polythene zipper bag and they are going to stay there forever fresh.

You can bring out one or two cubes as much as you need to be as fresh as they are just extracted from coconut.

Best Tips For Preserving Coconut Oil
Best Preservation I have some other ideas which are really found useful and help to preserve my coconut oil. I am sharing those ideas of saving oil. I suggest you consider them as they are less hectic and very much beneficial.

  • Coconut oil stays in solid forms upto 73° to 74°.
  • You need to make sure that you are preserving your coconut oil either in a glass bottle. Or if you are using a plastic bottle it should be 100% BPA free. Otherwise chemical leaching is expected.
  • If you have chosen to refrigerate your coconut oil. Before using, put it out at room temperature so it can easily be scooped out. Heating your coconut oil again and again is not all recommended as it might lower down its efficacy.
  • It’s better if you can prevent the exposure of light and heat to your coconut oil container. As both these factors affect its shelf life.
  • If you are suspicious that your coconut oil is expired. And you are afraid of side-effects that expired coconut oil on skin can cause. You can check its colour and smell. Because when expired or outdated for use, coconut oil colour turns a kind of yellowish and musky. Its smell will not be as pleasant as it was when it was fresh. Or it might develop some mold as well. Because when moisture and coconut oil interact mold development is expected.
  • While storing your coconut oil in the freezer for long term use, be careful that you are placing it in a freezer safe container.
  • If you are using coconut oil for baking you need it in firm form and for that you can refrigerate it for a few minutes. After that it is firm enough to be handled in baking.
Frequently Asked Questions

Why coconut oil doesn’t freeze?

Real coconut oil has plenty of fatty acids in it, and when some things have plenty of saturated fatty acid. It is supposed to freeze or get solid real quick even in your room when it is winter season. So if your coconut oil is not freezing it means it is not at all dear.

How long does it take to freeze coconut oil?

The time required to freeze coconut oil depends upon the quantity you want to freeze. If you have 500 ml of coconut and you’re freezing it. You need to stir it after every 5 minutes so all the coconut oil gets frozen evenly. Moreover, in this process the whole oil will freeze in no more than 20 minutes.

What is white stuff floating in coconut oil?

Sometimes your coconut oil is in a middle stage of liquid and solid. The portion that is liquid is transparent and a few streaks that have gone towards solid side are white. You can just put the oil in your hand and rub it for a while and you will see that the white streak is already dissolved. So basically it is not a foreign body that is making white streaks in your coconut oil it is actually coconut oil in two different states one liquid and one semi solid.

Why Not Expired Coconut oil on skin?

When you are using coconut oil it is not about the expiry date. If you are taking proper care of your coconut oil and preserving it in the best possible manner. Or you have already frozen it you can use it even after its expiry date.

You just need to check that your coconut oil has not turned yellowish in colour or is smelling bad. Mould is also expected to develop in freshly extracted coconut oil so you also need to check that it is free of mould as well. With all these qualities your coconut oil is perfect to use even long after the expiry has gone. But if you feel a colour change or smell change that is unpleasant, even if the expiry is away. I don’t recommend using that coconut oil on your skin and food.

Wrap UP

Coconut oil is not it very difficult to preserve. But you need to make sure it is kept in a clean moisture free, Glass jar or in a BPA free plastic container. Moreover, if you want to stop mold growth in it. Keep it in a jar or container that is airtight. If you are taking good care of it and shelving it away from light and heat .With all the above said factors your coconut oil is safe to use for ages.

Benefits And Down Sides Of Using Cocont Oil On Eyelashes

Benefits Of Coconut Oil

Free Of Chemicals

Coconut oil is 100% natural ingredient it don’t have any harmful chemical. It don’t have any side effect you can apply it it anywhere and still it is not injurious for your health. No unknown side effects all clear to use on your face

Inexpensive

Coconut oil is not at all expensive you can easily get a nice organic coconut oil jar in a very nominal amount. it can be the best low budget moisturiser and eyebrow serum that you can ever get in the market. In small money you can get good amount that can last for you even for months or a year.

Easy to apply

It is not at all complicated to apply, I prefer applying them with earbuds as both things earbuds and coconut oil are on my washroom shelf. You can even apply it with your hands and still they will produce very good results

Effective

I am not saying that coconut oil is a magic, apply it overnight and very next morning you will have heavy bushy eyebrows. But yes with regular long-term use its effective and its worth a try.

Downsides Of Coconut On Eyebrows

Not An Instant Remedy

Though coconut oil on eyebrows is a very effective remedy but it is not an instant one. So if you are looking for an overnight revolution then you might have to to go through some complicated procedure that might be painful too.

A Bit Sticky

Oils are meant to be oily so is the coconut oil. Definitely it’s a bit greasy. And using it in summers can be a bit irritating as it spread all around and give a nasty feeling. So if you don’t want it to spread all around your face, then you should try some serum or anything else for thick eyebrows.

Extra Hair Under The Eyes

Coconut oil supports hair growth if you will apply it regularly on your eyebrows it will make them thick and bushy. Moreover, may add some extra hairs even outside the and around the precise shape of the eyebrows. It supports hair growth so you need to apply it with precision otherwise the hair growth can be abrupt and out of shape.

Good Bye Note

My experience with coconut oil as a beauty remedy is great. It’s kind of my magic ingredient which I can use to add beauty in my skin my hair and even eyebrows! The best thing which I love about using coconut oil on eyebrows is that its very inexpensive, very easy to apply. And I am actually getting good result without spending much money. Moreover, easy to apply and provides wonderful results.

January 30, 2021 by admin Leave a Comment

Just imagine yourself coming back to home after having a hectic day. All your body is tired, exhausted and achey. Now imagine yourself having coconut oil for bath water that is lukewarm and of an adequate temperature. So can relax your crampy muscles and suck away the stress of that hectic day. I don’t know about you but I personally am mad about having a relaxing and soothing bath after a hectic day. It is no less than a dream come true with a tired mind and body.

Addition of Coconut oil in that bathtub is a cherry on the top. As it has innumerous benefits for skin. I have found several people asking on social media platforms how to use coconut oil while bathing. To make that tricky question very easy I am writing this blog post for all those, who want to have fun and make their skin soft like a baby. Without much struggle and expensive products.

Coconut oil in bath Eczema

When we are talking about natural moisturizer, coconut oil for skin is definitely one of the best. If you are suffering from eczema or dry skin coconut oil is going to smooth and nourish it in the most amazing way. By using coconut oil you can eliminate all those  toxic materials on your skin that cause you skin irritation and even eczema.

As we all know that skin is the largest among the sense organs in our body and when our skin absorbs something it actually affects our system. So adding coconut oil in your bath to fight out eczema can definitely be very effective. Because coconut oil has the potential of penetrating your skin far more deeply than any other eczema moisturizer available in the market. With its lower molecular weight and it’s great capacity of bonding with protein it goes deep and works great.

It is also very nourishing for the skin with its vitamin K and E qualities. Moreover, it has antifungal and antimicrobial qualities which make it a great barrier to fight against eczema or other skin allergies. Bathing Coconut oil is definitely one of the most inexpensive eczema treatments available in the market. If you have itchy skin or any inflamed patch or eczema. Just forget about anything else because coconut oil is going to be the best remedy ever.

Note: If you are suffering from any kind of tree nut allergy coconut oil is not a safe option as it is also a tree nut.

Coconut Oil Bath Recipe

If you are a busy person with the hectic routine and want to have maximum relaxation with minimum effort. This coconut oil bath recipe is going to work great for you. Moreover if you have any kind of skin allergy or eczema definitely this recipe be very helpful. Let’s see how I make my perfect coconut oil bath ready.

  • You just need to add some lukewarm water in your jacuzzi.
  • Add no more than 60 ml of coconut oil in that lukewarm water. if coconut oil is hard due to cold weather. you just need to warm it a bit. Until it is melted no need to heat it too much.
  • The next thing you need is epsom salt. It is also required in the same quantity as much coconut oil you have used. Almost a quarter cup of epsom salt is enough; it will not only help to soothe your inflammation. But also clean eczema and bring down the growth of bacteria.
  • Now you need to check that both these ingredients are nicely mixed in your lukewarm water.
  • Now you need to lie down in that water for no less than 15 minutes. And during that time keep flowing this soothing nice warm and nourishing water on your shoulders.
  • Now you just need to wipe out all that salt from your body with fresh lukewarm water.
  • When you are out, dry your skin with some clean towel and you can apply a bit of coconut oil again. If you have very dry skin or eczema problems.
  • This Bath will help you in reducing your eczema and tackling your itchy skin. With its antibacterial and fungal qualities this bath will help you to soothe your skin. Moreover, it’s a very easy way to handle eczema instead of wearing eczema clothings.

Caution:

While using Coconut oil in the bath make sure you are not using any excessive amounts. Because a few accidents have been reported where the user added too much coconut oil to make the bath more nourishing. But instead of getting benefits out of it the victim got trapped in the tub. And in the quest of coming out we got several bruises and minor injuries. So the excess of everything is bad. Be moderate and get yourself a refreshing soothing and relate to a relaxing coconut oil bath.

Coconut oil in bath for baby

Coconut oil is very beneficial for babies as well. You can use it in various ways with babies, its molecular volume makes it a nice deal for the soft and sensitive skin of babies. Its use is helpful for babies in several ways such as:

Dry scalp, eczema, hair care, diaper rash, Dry and chapped lips, Insect bites, Baby Acne, lice, oral fungal infections. To relieve teething pain, to settle frizzy hair, to help in cold, to massage baby chest, can be used as a nice nourishing baby lotion for kids. Moreover, it is very effective in removing the tar like dirty substance known as baby meconium, with its healing qualities it can be helpful in burns and cuts, and so on…

With so many tremendous qualities of coconut oil. If you want your baby to have a nice and nourishing coconut bath it’s certainly a good idea. But you need to take care that the baby doesn’t drown in water. Moreover you need to be very careful while showering your baby with a coconut oil bath. As when the kid gets slippery you might cant hold him well.

So I suggest that it’s better if you give your baby a nice coconut oil massage and then give him or her a bath in lukewarm and cosy comfy water. Instead of having a coconut baby bath.

Caution

When you are going to use any essential oil on your or your kids skin you must take a patch test. Though coconut oil is very gentle and soothing for skin but still when it comes to kids i believe precaution is far better than cure.

Essential Oils In Bath For Anxiety

Essential oils are very relaxing and therapeutic when used for a bath. but you can’t use these essential oils alone. You need to mix them with some carrier oil otherwise they will remain floating on the top. And I think coconut oil is the best carrier oil ever as it’s very nourishing and beneficial for skin.

There are several essential oils available in the markets that, if added in the bath can provide different soothing effects. A few provide mood lifting, and a few are really good for muscle soothing. But my favourite is an essential oil bath for anxiety.

Let me share my tried and tested recipe for Essential Oils Bath For Anxiety: Best time to take that bath is just before bath.

  • Lavender Oil 5 Drops
  • German Or Roman Chamomile Oil 4-5 Drops
  • Frankincense Oil 3-4 drops

Note: Don’t forget to add 15ml of coconut oil and mix them well before adding in lukewarm water.

Now when your bathtub is ready sit calmly in it for 15 to twenty mins and after that bath your stress levels are certainly going to get low. And you can enjoy a  relaxing sleep after that. You will find that bath helpful to improve your sex life as well.

Some other oils like:

Valerian, Jatamansi, Jasmine, Holy Basil, Sweet Basil,Bergamot, Chamomile, Vetiver, Rose, Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, Geranium, Patchouli, Lemon Balm, Fennel and Marjoram.

Essential Oils Not To Use In Bath

All the essential oils are not meant to add in your bathtub, so let me share with you a few you need to keep away from your shower area. Moreover You need to be careful about the allergies because if you are allergic to any essential oil and in forgetfulness you add it in your bath the results can be highly dangerous.

Moreover, I don’t recommend using peppermint and menthol oil in a bath. They can cause irritation, skin burns, and rashes. But if you have kids around i suggest you not to use Fennel, Rosemary, Verbena, Wintergreen, Rosemary, and eucalyptus.

Wrap Up

No doubt coconut oil in bath or essential oil in bath do have several benefits. Like rescuing you from eczema and aromatherapy for anxiety. But these are not substitute or replacement of a doctor. If you have minor eczema and you use coconut oil in the bath and it makes a difference for you that’s great. Moreover, if you are using essential oil for anxiety and they are effective on you after a hectic day you can use it. But if your issue is chronic and you are going through long-term anxiety and stress, that is now affecting your practical life you should go and see a psychiatrist or a mental health doctor. So they can design an anxiety management plan according to your needs.
